About this site…

Every project has to start somewhere, and this project started the moment I found out we were moving to the UK for my husband’s new job. Suddenly, I was the second body in a ‘two-body problem’. I was giving up a career of 14 years - based on a hard-earned master’s degree and moving to a place where first-year composition is not a thing. I did not have a teaching qualification. I did not have even one day of experience teaching children. I did not know what to do. So the idea for this website came in a very Platonian moment of necessity, which, as we know, is the mother of invention.

Without delving too much into moaning Myrtle territory, the stress of moving, culture shock, professional disappointment (because the career I loved does not exist in the UK) and a (somewhat interesting, actually) mental health journey delayed my start until 2023. But, as they say, I’m back baby! And this website was borne out of my passion for training academic writers. For a deep dive into my unique (for the UK but completely typical for a US English professor) background, please see [COMING SOON!]

MEANWHILE…

The purpose of this venture is to support college and university students as they navigate the landscape of academic writing, as well as teachers, tutors, or other educators who may find value in my method.

I am fully DBS-certified and happy to work with sixth-formers, college students, university students or professionals who need a little help with their writing. My master’s degree is in Composition Skills, which means I am trained to teach writing, regardless of the subject, discipline or topic and I have over 15 years of experience helping students reach their fullest writing potential.
